About the event

If you have never been to one of Maria's workshops, here is what people said about Maria's November Clinic:

"The information presented was invaluable. Maria addresses more than agility issues to help dogs perform at their best."

"Thought it was great that we worked on a particular skill the first day (distance) then general handling sequences on the second day."

"Maria has a huge knowledge of all types of dogs and handlers and always has helpful information."

"Maria's experience, wide knowledge and presentation style is exceptional. I love how she is keeping right up to date with some of the great trainers around the world"

"The sessions seemed like the right length. I really enjoyed the time spent on each person/dog in the Foundations. It was great to see the improvement in everyone across even one session."

Maria will be back in the Southern Highlands beginning on Friday April 24th for our new Workshop Sessions, titled Focus and Engagement and Arousal Testing and Behaviour Proofing Games, then Saturday 25th for Skills Groups and Sunday 26th for Handling Sessions.

All Sessions will be limited to a maximum of 8 dogs, however the Auditing Spots are great with a huge amount of information on fine tuning your training. Please note that if you are handling in one session you are very welcome to stay and audit the other session on the same day.

Saturday and Sunday are Indoors  at the Wallaby Hill Equestrian Centre, Robertson.  Friday is at Canine Ed on the farm at Mount Murray. If you are booked as a Handler for a session you are welcome to audit for the other half of the day.

Please note that this might be fully booked for Handling by the time you register, however we will add you to a waiting list and will notify you asap.

Please note that by using this form to register you agree to the terms and conditions on the Canine Education Australia Website. These can be read here: https://www.canineeducationaus.com/terms-and-conditions-workshops

NEW WORKSHOP INFORMATION:

Focus and Engagement :

One of the biggest issues we come across in teaching, is dogs getting distracted while working with their handlers. In an ideal world, dogs would remain fully focused under all types of distractions. But for many dogs this is not a natural thing and we are fighting natural, genetic tendencies as well as things that frankly dogs would just prefer to do! This session we will teach the dogs to offer focus and choose engagement with you. We will gradually add distractions, individual to each dog, starting easy and building up. I will teach you how to make sure your sessions have a proper start and finish, so the dogs have an understanding of when we need their attention and when they can do their own doggy things. Having routines in place that will help them to have clearer understanding of what is expected of them as well. Suitable for all ages and levels.

Arousal Testing and Behaviour Proofing Games:

In this session, I will teach you ways to check your dogs state of mind, along with a systematic way to build behaviour proofing games. The dogs will not only learn to work with distractions but will also learn the concept of cue discriminations, both of which are super important in dog sports. We will be teaching the dogs different location reward markers, that will be not only used for testing their head is in the right place but also gives them really clear communication about what type of reward they are getting and how it will be delivered. We will be adding layers of distractions to the base line game and will work with what each individual finds the most distracting. Suitable for all ages and levels.
